Salah Helmy Fahmy submitted a working paper titled “Consumer Protection Concepts and Fields”. This paper dealt with different fields, dimensions and concepts for protecting consumers which are represented by the following: Enhancing and protecting economic interests of consumers, safety of material required for goods, criteria is required for the safety and quality of commodities, the easing the distribution of goods and main services, measures established for entitling consumers to receive compensation and advertisements and information provided for citizen awareness.(Available in Arabic –German in PDF )

The working paper demonstrated how to protect consumers in public services and monopoly-oriented companies through the following: Drafting decisive legislations for preventing the monopoly of public services through utilities, limiting government and public sector monopoly of some commercial and productive activities, handling complexities in transactions and economic relations, conducting a study for segmenting and improving legislations to be compatible with modern economic conditions, the important and prominent role of audio, visual and print media aimed at the permanent and ongoing quest for protection of the consumer.
