Minister of Trade and Industry represented in the Commercial Registration Department and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized a regional seminar for Arab States in Cairo on the Promotion of Accession to the Madrid agreement about the International Registration of Marks. Delegations of 14 Arab States and experts from the World Organization have attended to discuss the advantages of Protocol Madrid and how to access to such protocol. The said seminar was held throughout three days from July 9th to July 11th. ( Available in Arabic )

Egypt is represented, in the Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) level, by both the Egyptian Association for Intellectual Property Protection and the Arab Federation of Intellectual Property Protection. Dr. Hoda Serag Eldin, Chairperson of the Egyptian Association for the protection of Intellectual Property and the Arab Union for the protection of Intellectual Property declared that the success of the seminar and discussing all the international laws and applications thereof calls for repeating such seminars. Also Dr. Nader Riad, Chairman of Arab Federation for Intellectual Property Protection stated the importance of the Arab Co-operation and the benefits from the resolutions of International Organizations and keeping abreast of the global development in order to reserve the Intellectual Property Rights in our Arab Homeland. On their part, Arab delegations praised the wonderful reception, Dr. Nader Riad in his capacity as Chairman of the Arab Federation of Intellectual Property Protection grants honorable membership for all members who are representatives of the Arab States that increased their happiness and praising such step from the part of Arab Union represented in the Board Chairman of the Arab Union.
