Dr. Nader Riad writes an article commenting on the recent race for the Chancellorship in Germany, and the focal points of the election campaign. Dr. Riad highlights what in his opinion are the keynote slogans from the campaigns, and how they can also relate to Egypt today. Dr. Riad first points to the slogan “Jobs must meet the people’s needs,” commenting that although this may require the amendment to laws governing minimum wage and inadvertently burden the struggle, that Egypt is in dire need of amending the minimum wage both in the public and private sectors. He then points to the slogan “Education for employment,” noting that this indicates education to further employment. Dr. Riad believes it is crucial for employees to continue to increase and strengthen their skills to remain competitive in the job market, and thereby also benefit their employers.
