Ambassador James Moran, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Egypt, confirmed that the EU’s relations with Egypt continue to encompass all fields, including economic cooperation. This came during a Euro-Mediterranean conference announcing the launch of eight new investment projects in Alexandria, financed by the EU. Dr. Nader Riad, the head of the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations, said the projects involve several activities in Egypt and EU countries, including participation in international exhibitions and conferences and joint manufacturing and cooperation to help Egypt enter regional markets as well as several other activities that seek to raise the competitiveness of the Egyptian product and its compliance to international specifications to be marketable on EU markets.(Available in Arabic)
Dr. Ashraf El Araby, Minister of Planning has assured in his speech that the EU-Egyptian relations are on solid ground and the coming period will witness further development. It is important to note that the eight projects funded by the European Union to support the and the sectors of various industries (food, textile, tourism, renewable energy (solar energy), the environment and schools) are worth more than 260 million pounds.
