Dr. Shihab has inaugurated an international symposium on intellectual property rights in industry; discussion topics relate to developments on the new Egyptian law, the effect of the Doha Declaration and the negative outcomes of counterfeit activities. ( Available in Arabic – German in PDF )
Intellectual property has become a vital central issue and is expected to be discussed in the symposium entitled “The protection of intellectual property in the 21st century”. In addition, topics related to developments on the new Egyptian law on the protection of intellectual property, as well as the effects of the Doha Declaration, are to be discussed by the participants. Dr. Riad asserts that the national legislation related to intellectual property protection will increase confidence in the climate of investment in Egypt, whilst pointing out the problem of intellectual rights had emerged as a result of the illegal counterfeiting actions undertaken by a number of countries.
