The modern technological revolution has been providing almost unlimited sources of information, but it also brought about the problem of how to protect intellectual property. Laws across the world criminalize acts such as hacking and illegal code deciphering, but the penalties vary from country to country, also according to local conditions. Egypt has its own legislation on this matter, while some people stress that a great problem in this regard is the lack of inventions due to the poor interest in scientific research in this country. As for the Arab world, an important role in this field is played by the Arab Federation for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights (AFPIPR), chaired by Dr. Nader Riad. This Federation carries out different tasks in order to raise people’s awareness about intellectual property and to protect those whose intellectual rights are at risk.
