The investment climate has been improving in Egypt; land prices, exchange rates and interest rates are down, and there is more security and stability in the country. There are rumors that tax benefits may be revoked, yet this should not affect the investment flow, and Egypt still remains with relatively-low tax bands on commercial activities compared to other countries. More competition among the country’s governorates could also be looming, as the government tries to introduce production specialization. There are also calls to re-consider the labor and social insurance law so that they too may contribute to the current investment-attracting climate.
