Dr. Hani Helal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, held a meeting with the Board of Trustees of the Mataria Faculty of Technology, headed by Dr. Nader Riad. The meeting was also attended by the head of the ministry’s education sector, the director of the project to develop technology faculties, the directors of the institutes of the faculty, members of the teaching staff, and officials of the Egyptian International Tourism Projects Company (EITP). For his part, Abdel Hamid Salama, Head of the Ministry’s Education Sector, said the ministry paid great attention to the partnership of the civil society foundations due to its positive effect on students, the educational process, the board of trustees, and economic institutions. At the end of his visit, Dr. Helal inaugurated the Institute of Tourism and Hotels and inspected the laboratories and workshops at the Faculty of Technology. He praised the efforts made as part of the development strategy pursued by the Board of Trustees. Dr. Saad Qassem, manager of the project to develop technology faculties, explained Dr. Hani Helal had given instructions to prepare training programs at the ministry to re-qualify teachers of technical colleges and to amend their financial regulations. Dr. Tharwat Adam, Secretary General of the Board of Trustees of Mataria Technology Faculty, said a few executive procedures and arrangements were needed to activate the twinning agreement launched by Dr. Riad between the Institute of Optics in Berlin and its counterpart in Mataria. The agreement was signed by initials in Germany in 2006.
