This article discusses President Hosni Mubarak’s decision to modify the constitution in order for the election of the presidency to be decided by public vote. Dr. Peter Joe Befresh, Executive of German-Arabian Chamber for Industry & Commerce, states that reforming the Egyptian Constitution, in order to allow voting in a President among many candidates, is a great step in the right direction. Engineer Fathallah Fawzi, Head of Egyptian-Lebanese Friendship Association for Businessmen in Cairo, states that the entire world looks up to Egypt, being a pioneer in reform in the region. He adds that President Mubarak request to modify constitutional clause no.76 emphasizes Egypt’s pioneering role in commanding economical and political reformation processes in the area.
