Counsellor to the People’s Assembly Committee of Industry & Energy, Dr. Nader Riad, believes that increasing the supply and promoting competitiveness is the password to lower prices. The Ministry remains the only side capable of keeping prices within range, away from exaggeration and outbidding. Moreover, this policy would eliminate queues lining up for scarce items, or in fear of imminent price rises. Dr. Nader Riad, chairman of Research, Development & Technology Transfer Committee at the Egyptian Federation of Industries, said economics and the conditions of transactions within the market can show whether any price rise is true or fabricated. He said fabricated price rises are in many cases attributed to harmful deals or monopoly practices between manufacturers and tradesmen or importers.
