The first Arab forum for engineering industries is seen as an attempt to discuss the potentials in forming an agreement on Arab rules of origin for industrial commodities, and thus is the first step toward Arab commercial and industrial integration. Various delegations participated in the forum, with many experts and ministers addressing the congregation. The evaluation of the forum is discussed in detail, which can be summarized under the following headings: a step on the way to the future; exploiting agreements; development of small enterprises; 19,000 small facilities; future vision; and pivotal industry. The forum began with a call from the Ministry of Industry for the activation of Arab industrial federations, in addition to expressing the need to develop Arab rules of origin for industrial commodities. The Egyptian Federation of Industries had their say by presenting a number of statistics, of which showed that the huge Arab market is unexploited to a great extent, whereby only 8% is used. In addition, they added that the framework of the privatization program enables Egypt to provide a number of investment opportunities. Furthermore, it is expected that the auto industry will rise by 10% annually, in line with improvements to the economy and the standards of living.
