Both Dr. / Alhalh Ahmed Abdullah, and Dr. / Meselhi Amina Farhat, presented a working paper on the “dimensions and areas of consumer protection” the paper points out the success of regulatory and governmental agencies in achieving adequate protection of the Egyptian consumer, through the following themes: low awareness among consumers – shortcomings in the provision of protection for consumers to preserve them.( Available in Arabic )

the paper portrayed a group of results to be summarized as follows: lack of clarity in the concept of consumer protection in the minds of a large proportion of consumers – the weakness of the movement of consumer protection at the level of the governorate of Monoufia – and a readiness for a large proportion of consumers to join the associations of consumer protection – a seeming lack of protection to the consumer – the weakness of the role played by consumers in the area of protection that does not want to shoulder the responsibility. The paper provides some important recommendations, including: the need to develop a comprehensive strategy to protect Egyptian consumers – to work on the development of consumer awareness regarding the protection of the consumer – tightening controls on producers and distributors to provide the required protection in goods and services to consumers and more severe punishment on violators – to increase the supply of goods, whether domestic or imported – requiring producing companies to be honest in all types of data written on the goods and the ongoing monitoring to ensure that the producers provide the consumers with information on the protection of consumer control and how to contact the relative authorities and procedures to be taken against complaints or reporting violation – Work to support the standardization of consumer protection, and for Egypt to increase its effectiveness, and even to play a positive role in providing the necessary data on the consumer goods and their characteristics – the revitalization of the supervisory role of the executive bodies in the area of consumer protection .
