The World Economic Forum wound up its activities in Sharm el-Sheikh. The Forum was held on 18-20 May under the slogan „Learning from the Future“, with the participation of 13 world leaders and 1,500 international personalities, representing major thinkers, politicians, industry men and businessmen from 55 countries. In its session, the Forum discussed issues related to the food crisis, energy and bio-fuel, as well as unemployment and water challenges. At the conclusion of the World Economic Forum, Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid issued a final statement on the most important outcomes of the Forum. Rachid stressed that the Forum has succeeded, by all means, to achieve its desired objectives, as it highlighted the problems of the Middle East region and the challenges of reform and development processes in the region. Through its discussions, seminars and intensive bilateral meetings, the Forum managed to rediscover the potentials of the region’s countries and the available opportunities, which will guarantee better living conditions for the region’s inhabitants in case of successful utilization. Rachid added that the axes and discussions of the Forum were integral, whether at the political, economic or social levels. All these axes stressed the right of all nations to improve their living conditions and that all economic and political reform processes should meet people’s hopes and aspirations for a decent, secure and stable life. The Forum was a good opportunity for Egypt to acquire a huge international assembly acquainted with the great achievements that have taken place in Egypt in the era of President Hosni Mubarak though the comprehensive reform processes adopted by the Egyptian government.
