On 18 October, Misr Company for Information and Technology held a symposium entitled „Protecting Intellectual Property Rights, Reality and Future“. This reviewed the main features of the new law, its international significance and its prospective effects. A group of law experts and professors participated in the symposium’s works such as Dr. Venice Kamel Goda, Dr. Nader Riad, Dr. Hossam Lotfy,and Dr. Fawzy Elrafai.(Available in Arabic – German in PDF )

Mrs. Hoda Serageldin, Chairman of the Egyptian Society for Protection of Industrial Property, confirmed the necessity of not only modifying the law, but also of other stages to protect industrial property rights to have access to protection and fulfillment of international Egyptian commitments. Dr. Venice Kamel Goda, President of Misr Company for Information and Technology showed that the symposium aims at highlighting the final draft for the Intellectual Property protection law and its provisions, which will have positive effects on the cultural and scientific climate in Egypt. Dr. Nader Riad indicated that Intellectual Property is the cornerstone of any civilization, focusing on economic value, Intellectual Property strategy, competition laws and free circulation of information. Protection of Intellectual Property appeared after the illegal acts of some countries to benefit from famous trademarks, Dr. Riad added.
