As the European Union accounts for more than 40% of Egypt’s foreign trade, negotiations for the liberalization of trade in agricultural products are currently underway between the European Union (EU) and the Egyptian Minster of Trade and Industry. Information on current foreign trade with the EU was disclosed at a conference organized by the Federation of Egyptian-European Business Organizations, as a starting point to activate the Neighborhood Policy. In addition, there are high priorities set in place by the European Union involving the environment, health and education. The President of the European Union has his say in regards to the matter, including encouraging words expressing how Egypt is an essential partner of the European Union. The commissioners for foreign affairs and industry, along with various bank leaders, will meet to discuss ways to activate the mechanisms of joint cooperation.
