This paper examines the theme of transport through the following: road passenger transport – road transport of goods – the safety and integrity of the roads – and the development of river transport – the strategic integration of transport at the national level, the methods of funding transportation projects and services – the development of the legislative framework for land transport of passengers and cargo and river transport. The National Democratic Party believes in the important role of the transport sector and its various activities being one of the sectors that have direct contact with the public, and one of the pillars of the overall development of the State, within the framework of implementation of the vision of the party in the area of transport the paper included „the present and the future of the transport sector,“ which was presented and discussed during the annual conference in September 2003 to provide transportation services for the appropriate categories of citizens in accordance with their needs and the required quality and the highest levels of safety, which culminated in the report giving special priority to the study of three themes: land transport of passengers and goods – the safety and integrity of the roads – river transport .
