The first governmental outlets have been set up in some of Egypt’s governorate capitals. They are seen as a good step towards providing cheap and good products while promoting competition among local private traders and revitalizing the market. These outlets will also speed up the flow of products from Cairo to Egypt’s governorate capitals. (Available in Arabic – German in PDF )
The Egyptian government has announced the establishment of the first public outlets in some governorate capitals. More are due to be set up later on. The first goal of these outlets is to provide cheap yet good products to all consumer categories and to expand the market. At the same time, though, they want to encourage local traders to do their best to win as big a share as possible of this expanding market. This will speed up the circulation of capital, also boosting the spirit of competition among these traders.
