The Committee for Engineering and Electronics ratified a code of ethics in its latest meeting. Its chairman believes this code will boost competition among manufacturers and push them to respect consumer rights. He also thinks this instrument will protect the market, producers and consumers. In fact, it regulates issues like standards of products and maintenance centers, as it stipulates such centers must be affiliated to or accredited by the manufacturer. This comes as an attempt to curb the emergence of unauthorized centers.
