Dr. Nader Riad explains the meaning of franchise. It is a special right granted by a producer (for example a company) to a businessman or a businesswoman (the holder), who can start their own economic activity under the producer’s trade name or trademark within a certain area and for a specific period of time. No one else has this right in the same geographical scope, yet this does not mean this is a real kind of monopolization.
