The extinction of the first creature began the countdown for human existence on this planet as the absence of any being, no matter how small or large, affects the balance needed to keep the environment strong and healthy. The establishment of Egypt’s Environmental Protection Agency, culminating in the Ministry of Environmental Affairs, resulted in the spread of environmental protection NGOs. Although these organizations have proliferated nationwide, they have, alas, failed to meet the conditions required to protect the environment despite many branches nationwide.(Available in Arabic – German in PDF)
Human ingratitude towards “Mother Nature” is evidenced by such man-made disasters as the extinctions of various animals, the uprooting of forests, the contamination of water sources, mad cow disease, bird flu, swine flu and plague. Human actions against nature have resulted in the elimination of life in rivers such as the great Rhine River, contamination of food, air and the layers of the atmosphere. In Egypt, industry has responded well to the trends in the debate on the causes of overall water quality in the River Nile and has encouraged it to meet the specifications of ISO 9000/14000. The activity of environment protection resulted in the establishment of the Cabinet’s Environmental Protection Agency and culminated in the Ministry of Environmental Affairs whose work during the last ten years resulted in the spread of environmental protection NGOs. Although these NGOs have branches nationwide, they have failed to meet the necessary conditions required to protect the environment.
