For many years, there has been controversy over small and medium-sized industries and the necessity to broaden their area of operation to be a mainstay of development and progress. The final upshot is still modest and does not meet the aspirations of the Egyptian economy, and small and medium projects, which constitute the building blocs of the economies of the developing and developed countries worldwide. Dr. Nader Riad, chairman of the small and medium-sized industries committee at the Egyptian Federation of Industries, emphasized the importance of these type of industries as the foundation for the industry’s hierarchical structure any time and anywhere. These industries play a prominent role represented in contributing to raising the national income and fairly distributing it along the geographical extension. In addition, these industries play a positive role in raising working revenues, achieving sufficiency in income, and building up the workers’ spending capacity, he added. The conclusion is that no industrial community can make progress without depending on an integrated basis of small industries.
