Al-Watany spoke with Dr. Nader Riad about these questions. Dr. Riad stated that Egypt’s economy continues to grow. It is currently witnessing an upturn with indications that have already emerged in the first quarter of 2001. The Egyptian economy, like the various international economies, is experiencing through transformations and developments on a total and partial level. These transformations are ascribed to domestic reasons reflecting the conditions of the Egyptian economy. It includes turning to privatization and the tendency to set up giant projects through private funding and the phased-out economic liberalization.
