Business Today Egypt Magazin 2007/OCTOBER /01
Firefighting solutions company Bavaria Egypt is a success story like no other. Not only has it risen to the top of the local market, it became the first Egyptian company to acquire its international partner.
The story starts with Nader Riad, who as a young engineering student in Germany trained with Bavaria Germany, a maker of firefighting equipment established in 1923 and the second-oldest German company in its field. After developing a relationship with the owner of Bavaria Germany, Riad proposed that the company enter the Egyptian market through an independent joint venture. In 1972, he bought the rights to use the parent company’s name and created Bavaria Egypt SAE, with the German partner as a minority stakeholder.Business Today Egypt sat down with Amir Riad, a board member and the group’s strategic business development and operations manager, to talk about how the company got where it is today. Sitting at an immaculately organized desk, he credits BE’s success to six factors surprisingly excluding his own highly evolved organizational skills.
