The economy of the State and its degree of stability can be evaluated through the issue of price. The price index is related to market stability and the purchasing power required by commercial markets and industrial sectors to manage their economic system. During recent years the Egyptian economy managed to contain the fluctuations in the price of oil, raw materials, rebar, cement, petrochemicals and building materials despite the continuous fluctuations of the price of oil. The correction of price differences is a main pillar in community reform, which combines with economic reform in building a modern Egypt.(Available in Arabic – German in PDF)
The Egyptian economy managed to contain fluctuations in the price of many commodities but in the countryside and Upper Egypt, they witnessed huge increases in the prices despite the fact that we are one nation living in the same country. The further we are away from the capital; the prices of many commodities are higher. Price increases take many forms such as the increase in the price per kilo or the packet, or by putting these commodities in smaller packets with the same price. We call for the freedom of movement of commodities and services at an international level, while it is not achieved at the domestic level. The prices of hotel rooms for Egyptians are less than the prices for foreigners by an average of 50 percent. Foreigners should be treated on an equal footing with Egyptians. Manufacturers exploit the sale season by selling defective goods for cheap prices. When parties are organized by Arabs there is an increase in the price and also in the medical profession, we see fees increasing by 5 times when the patient is an Arab. These tarnish the pricing system in our country. Positive measures must be introduced to avoid price differences in the best interest of the economic structure.
