The phenomenon of counterfeiting fire extinguishers poses a threat on investment and the lives of civilians. Experts have their say in regard to this issue; outlining the implementations involved in all areas, whilst devising a solution plan. ( Available in Arabic – German in PDF )
The threat of fires engulfing various factories imposes danger on the employees and investment. Such should not be taken as lightly; however the counterfeiting of fire extinguishers continues to occur. Hence, the industrial safety in Egypt is deficient. Experts agree that the phenomenon has spread due to the high potential of profitable gain, in addition to the static nature of the Egyptian Standard Specifications that govern this industry, which tempt producers to turn to counterfeiting. Hence, experts call for the review of the specifications to correct the distortions that lie within. In addition they call for the formation of a number of groups, allocated to various monitoring duties, whilst asserting the necessity to intensify the penalty for counterfeiting action as a deterrent. Additionally, experts assert the necessity for a company to purchase fire extinguishing equipment from certified distributors, thus ensuring the reliability of the equipment.
