Dr. Nader Riad, an important industrialist, talks about the new competition and anti-monopoly law, and illustrates some amendments that he thinks would make this law even more efficient. These amendments include, among the others, the definition of products and the geographic area in which they are circulated; the non applicability of this law to some cases of monopoly; and the role and neutrality of the authority charged with spotting any monopolistic practice in the market. Dr. Nader Riad, an important industrialist, talks about the new competition and anti-monopoly law, and illustrates some amendments that he thinks would make this law even more efficient. He says the law should clearly define products coming from the same market and the geographical area containing the said market. He believes pioneering companies launching a new product for the first time and facing no competition whatsoever should be temporarily exempt from the law. As for the authority monitoring any case of monopoly in the market, he believes it should focus on transactions whose value is not below a minimum level. He also says this authority should not be funded through the fines leveled following the application of this law, otherwise its neutrality would be in jeopardy.
